$850 – 3-day intensive course

Includes all WSET study materials; spirits tasting samples; 3 days of in person guided instruction by Claudia Chamberlain DipWSET & WSET certified Spirits instructor; the examination; and mailing of certificates of achievement to addresses in the U.S.

This class will meet in person at the Capital Wine School on June 21, 22, and 23. Participants who register on or before June 6 will be eligible to take a paper-based exam at the end of class on June 23 *or* an online exam with remote invigilation on Saturday, July 13 at 11:00 a.m.. Participants who register on or after June 7 must take the exam online with remote invigilation on July 13 at 11:00 a.m., or defer to a later scheduled online exam.

Schedule

Friday, June 21: Class meets from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with a short break for lunch
Saturday, June 22: Class meets from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with a short break for lunch
Sunday, June 23: Class meets from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. with a short break for lunch, followed by the exam from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. for attendees who register on or before June 6 and who wish to take the a paper-based exam at the end of the last class session.
Saturday, July 13: 11:00 a.m. (EST) online, remotely invigilated exam for attendees who registered on or after June 7, or pre-June 7 registrants who wish to take the exam online.
*The cost of lunch is not included in the registration fee. Participants may bring their own lunch or visit one of the local eateries.


This is an intermediate-level qualification exploring spirits and aromatised wines for those working in the industry or spirits enthusiasts. This qualification is intended for beginners wishing to learn about a wide range of spirits or those seeking to build on the introductory knowledge gained with the WSET Level 1 Award in Spirits.

You’ll learn about the fundamental production methods and principal raw materials, discovering how they are used to make the key spirit styles. You’ll also explore the key practices and principles of serving spirits and the use of spirits in cocktails. Upon achievement you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin and will be able to use the associated WSET certified logo.

Recommended Learning Hours: 15 Guided Learning Hours (including one hour for the examination) and 11 hours of private study.

Study Materials
Study materials will be mailed to students via USPS Priority Mail approximately 3 weeks before the first class. Students who register with less than three weeks until the first class will have their study materials mailed within 3 business days of registration. Students who register on or after June 14 will need to come to the school to pick up their study materials by appointment if they wish to receive them ahead of the first class, or they may receive them the morning of the first class.


Exam Information 

  • Participants who register for this course on or before June 6 have the option to take a paper-based exam at the end of class on June 23, or online with remote invigilation on July 13 at 11:00 a.m. EST.
  • Participants who register for this course on or after June 7 will be automatically registered to take the exam online with remote invigilation July 13 at 11:00 a.m. EST.
  • Participants should access the “RI-Candidate Information” document in the FAQ section of the website under “Can I Take My WSET Exam Online” to determine if this method of exam delivery is right for you.

Important note regarding fees associated with reschedules or cancellations: 
– Due to WSET exam order deadlines, we are unable to make any changes to participants’ exam choice after June 6 without collecting a new exam fee of $150.
–  Any requests for cancellation/rescheduling of the course itself recieved after June 6 will be subject to a $150 cancelation/rescheduling fee to cover the exam fee.
– In additional to the above-referenced fees, any request to cancel the course and receive a refund will be subject to an $80 fee to cover any study materials we have already mailed to the student, as well as any payment processing fees we incurred to accept your online payment.


Rescheduling of exams: Students who are unable to attend either of the scheduled exams associated with this course may request to defer to one of our other scheduled exams. *Because they tend to damage the certficates of achievement when mailed together, we are no longer including lapel pins with certficate mailings. Students who pass the exam and wish to collect the lapel pin for this qualification may email info@capitalwineschool.com to make an appointment to pick it up, or to request separate shipping for an additional fee.
