$750 – 5-class series plus exam
Includes all WSET study materials, wine samples selected by Jay Youmans MW, 5 in-person class sessions guided by a CWS instructor, the final examination, and postage for mailing of certificates and lapel pins.

This 5-class course will be taught in person at the Capital Wine School on April 27, May 4, May 11, May 18 and May 25 from 6:30pm – 9:30pm with the exam in person at the Capital Wine School on June 8 from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. 

There is no pre-study required; students will receive their study materials at the first class.

 

The aim of the course is to focus on the key grape varieties and regions of the world. While the course provides an overview of the wines of the world, including main wine grapes and regions, it also covers factors affecting wine quality and style, grape growing, and basic winemaking practices. The course emphasizes tasting assessment and the skills required to describe the aromas and tastes of wine. It helps to develop fundamental tasting and assessment skills. During each class session, students  will taste 4-6 wines. The exam takes 1 hour and consists of 50 multiple choice questions. Those who pass the exam receive the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines, an internationally recognized credential in the wine industry.

17 Guided Learning Hours (including one hour for the examination) and 11 hours’ private study.


EXAM INFORMATION (The exam takes one hour to complete)

The exam is an in-person, paper-based at the Capital Wine School on June 8, 2023 from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. 

Students who are unable to come to the school to take their exam on June 8 may email info@capitalwineschool.com for information on how to schedule an online exam with remote invigilation. Students considering an online exam should access the “RI-Candidate Information” document in the FAQ section of the website under “Can I Take My WSET Exam Online” to determine if this method of exam delivery is right for you.

Important: Due to WSET exam order deadlines, we are unable to reschedule the exam associated with this course after May 22 without collecting a new exam fee. Any requests for rescheduling of the exam after May 22 will incur a $150 new exam fee.
