Sonoma County defies easy categorization — its patchwork of AVAs spans cool, fog-swept coastline to warm inland valleys, yielding everything from taut Russian River Pinot Noir to bold Alexander Valley Cabernet. In this class, we’ll taste through ten wines that reveal Sonoma’s remarkable diversity, exploring how its varied microclimates and soils shape distinct expressions of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Along the way, we’ll trace Sonoma’s identity as California’s most terroir-driven wine county — often standing in contrast to its more glamorous neighbor, Napa. You’ll come away with a clear sense of Sonoma’s key sub-regions and the styles that define them.

The tasting lineup will be announced closer to the event, once final selections are confirmed.

This class will be held in person at the Capital Wine School. Please note that the building in which we are located does not have an elevator, and there are several sets of stairs to navigate to get to our classrooms on the second floor.

To ensure a quality experience for all participants, each class or course requires a minimum number of registrations. If this minimum is not met, we may need to cancel the session.
