Units D1 & D2: Wine Production (12 weeks of guided study) – $1,900


Units D1 & D2 are the entry points for the Diploma in Wines program. Online courses for Units D1 & D2 are available only as a package and must be completed in full.

Unit D1 – Wine Production:  Understand what the vine’s requirements are to produce grapes and explain how the natural and human factors in the vineyard influence the quality of grapes produced. Understand what wine-making options are available to a producer and explain how these options influence the style, quality and price of wines produced.

Unit D2 – Wine Business: Understand the factors that contribute to the price of wine by explaining supply and demand, production related costs and legislation. Understand the types of businesses engaged in the production process by evaluating these businesses and the options for getting the wine to point of sale.

The cost includes the 3-year registration fee required for the WSET, online tuition and  study materials, access to the WSET tutors, 24/7 access to the on-line classroom, feeback test with immediate results, and the exam for each unit at the Capital Wine School (please note that as of January 2020, the time specified for the Unit D2 final exam on October 27 is tentative and subject to change pending publication of exam times by the WSET)

Other Important Information

***When registering for this course, please use an email address that you will be able to access throughout the entire Diploma program.

***The registration deadline for this course is May 17, 2020 and there are no refunds or rescheduling after this date. Requests for late registrations will be considered on a case by case basis, and will be assessed a $50 late registration fee.

***Diploma New Candidate Registrations will be submitted to the WSET three weeks before the course begins, or within 72 hours of registration if the course start date is less than three weeks from the date of registration. Once we have submitted your New Candidate Registration to the WSET, cancellations/refunds are not possible.

***All Diploma study materials are located online, and no physical study booklets are issued. Candidates will receive emailed instructions on how to access the materials once their new Candidate Registration has been processed, but can preview them here. Please note that students who are enrolling in a classroom course and who have never taken a WSET online course before should NOT create an account in the online classroom, but should use the Global Campus login credentials that they will receive directly from the WSET via email once their candidate registration has been processed.

***The WSE T does not permit candidates to enroll in concurrent online courses (courses with overlapping start or end dates).

***Students will require access to a computer (recommended) and/or HTML5 compatible mobile or tablet with the following minimum requirements: Internet Explorer 10, Firefox 25.0, Safari 6, Chrome 30.0 or other HTML5 compatible; web browser with Javascript and cookies** enabled; Adobe Reader XI or equivalent; Internet access (broadband recommended)
