Meet our instructors:
- Caroline B.C. Herman – Master of Wine: Caroline is our import-export program manager for wine, beer, and spirits in the US Department of Treasury’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB). Prior to joining TTB she was a federal enforcement attorney for over a decade in the Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Civil Enforcement. She started her wine education classes in 2005 and is now a certified WSET instructor. Along with teaching at Capital Wine School, Caroline has trained restaurante wine and beverage staff in DC and judged wine competitions.
- Matt Brown: Matt graduated from the University of Virginia in 2010 and is constantly looking for opportunities to further his wine education. He has experience in wine service, distribution, viticulture, enology and business management. He comes from a legacy of wine as his grandfather was involved in the wine world and imported wines in New York.
- Kasia Tomecka – DipWSET: Kasia began her interest in wine education while studying abroad in France where she was introduced to the best wines in the world. When she returned to the states, she continued to grow her knowledge of wine and also managed a winery. She has worked as a sommelier at a luxury resort and spends her free time learning through the WSET. Kasia is a certified instructor and enjoys sharing her love for wine with others.
