The Unit #1 assessment is comprised of two papers:

  1. case study examination (50% of grade) that students write in class under exam conditions. Topics are released by the WSET one month before the examination. The case study exam will be held at 10:30 a.m. on the following dates at the Capital Wine School: November 8, 2017; March 6, 2018; and June 12, 2018. (Please note that as of 08/07/17, it will be too late to register for the examination on November 8.)
  2. coursework assignment (50% of grade) that students write at home over the course of several months. Please note that the assignment cannot be submitted electronically. A hard copy of the paper must be delivered to the Capital Wine School. Topics are released by the WSET in June of each year. The Capital Wine School will accept coursework assignments on the following dates:  November 14, 2017 and April 10, 2018. (Please note that as of 10/01/17, it will be too late to register to submit the assignment on November 14.)

Please note that you must have taken the WSET Level 4 Diploma, Unit #2 exam before registering for this, or any other, unit.

PLEASE NOTE THAT REGISTRATION DATES ARE STRICT AND IMPOSED BY THE WSET:

– Registration required by August 6, 2017 for the November 8, 2017 case study exam

– Registration required by October 1, 2017 for the submission of the November 14, 2017 coursework assignment

– Registration required by December 2, 2017 for the March 6, 2018 case study exam

– Registration required by March 1, 2018 for the submission of the April 10, 2018 coursework assignment

– Registration required by March 11, 2018 for the June 12, 2018 case study exam

**STUDENTS WHO REGISTERED TO TAKE THE CASE STUDY EXAM ON NOVEMBER 8 AT THE CAPITAL WINE SCHOOL ARE INVITED TO ATTEND A FREE SEMINAR ON OCTOBER 12 AT 6:30 P.M. TO REVIEW THE CASE STUDY EXAM TOPIC. SEMINAR DATES FOR THE 2018 EXAM TOPICS WILL BE RELEASED IN THE FUTURE.**
