Based on tastings of hundreds of wines on site in Sicily during 2019, I’ve come to the conclusion that quality is rising faster in Sicily than anywhere in Italy…and arguably anywhere in the world.  The best whites are every bit as impressive as the reds, though they are much less well known.  Fresh and juicy but with striking mineral complexities, the best whites are riveting, and the reds range from lithe and sophisticated in style to rich and authoritative.  Growing areas far beyond uber-fashionable Etna are now competing at the very highest level of quality.  In terms of wine variety and complexity, Sicily seems more like a continent than an island, as it offers interplay between varied soil types, different grape varieties, and nuances of altitude and proximity to the sea that results in an array of excellent wines deserving the sharpest attention of wine lovers…before prices catch up with quality.

Wine samples available for pickup by appointment on June 5 between 12pm – 5pm.
