Climate change casts a cloud over the future, but that cloud has some “silver linings” because alterations in climate are bringing important improvements to some wine regions.  This is true both in terms of consistency (grapes getting fully ripe in a higher percentage of years) and in terms of absolute quality (wines becoming fuller, more flavorful, and easier to enjoy over a longer period of evolution).  Other regions are struggling with climate problems, and some are barely affected (like New Zealand, due to the moderating influence of the surrounding ocean), but it can be highly advantageous to learn where change is bringing improvements in overall quality or opening new options in wine styles (as in Germany, where marvelous dry Rieslings are now co-existing alongside their deliciously sweet traditional counterparts).  This tasting will include 12 examples of wines that have arguably changed for the better while also offering enhanced value, as quality is rising faster than pricing.

Wine samples available for pickup by appointment on Friday, September 23 between 12pm – 5pm.
