Finding new hobbies and things to do that don’t revolve around work but allow us to really relax and enjoy something just for fun is so important. Especially in this day and age when so many hobbies turn into jobs, it can take the fun out of it when it becomes your primary source of income. We all love having hobbies and things that bring us joy outside of the normal work day and stresses of adulthood, and we’re to share a new idea with you for a new hobby: learning about wine.

We know, that may seem like work, but you don’t have to make a career out of it. You can attend a few classes to enjoy being with other people who just want to learn something new and broaden their horizons in the wonderful world of wine. It’s a unique hobby that allows you to better understand and enjoy wine as you learn more about it.

Try Entry Level Wine Classes

At Capital Wine School, we have lots of entry level classes that share both fun and helpful information about wines from around the world. By learning more about wine, you open yourself up to a whole new world of fine wines and the history, culture, and geography of wines. It’s a fun way to learn something new without the stress of it being a job. You can take this information with you for the rest of your life and begin trying new wines you never knew about or pairing wines with food to make the experience that much more enjoyable.

Invite Your Friends to Join You

One of the reasons we love hobbies so much is the people we share them with. Whether it’s skateboarding, baking, scrapbooking or building, it’s the memories we share with others that really make our hobbies so meaningful. That’s why we recommend inviting a few friends or family members along to take some entry level wine classes with you. This way you’ll have others in the class you already know and can talk to about what you learned that day or your favorite part about the class. You can even host your own private wine tastings together trying different wines with different foods. You’ll learn the types of wines you prefer along the way and what they pair best with. And even better, you’ll have a better understanding and appreciation of the wine because you know more about it.

No Experience Necessary

There are many hobbies that require some knowledge or lots of practice before they can become “fun.” Drawing, woodworking or playing an instrument are just a few examples of that. But when it comes to our entry level wine classes, no experience is necessary. You don’t have to have any specific knowledge or interest in making this a career to take our courses. You can just come and enjoy the classes and learn with our very knowledgeable teachers. There’s no requirements or necessary “homework” or practice before you begin. Just show up to class and enjoy learning about fine wines and exploring a new industry you may not have known much about before.

New Year’s Resolution?

As we get closer to the new year, we all are putting together our new year’s resolutions. We’re reevaluating the year we just had and deciding what we are proud of that we did or accomplished and what we’d like to work on this year or what we’d like to change. Maybe you want to start a new hobby or learn something new? Maybe you want to spend more time with friends or family? A beginner’s wine class is a great way to do all of those things. You’ll learn something new and can do it with friends or family to spend time with them and learn together. How much fun would it be to learn about wine together, and the next time you all go out to eat, you know what wine to order with your meal? Plus, you can talk about the fun you had in the class and what your favorite parts were. Sharing memories together is something you can take with you forever, especially when it’s knowledge about wine that you can continue sharing together time and time again.
