The Wines of Greece with Tonya Rawe DipWSET – In Person or Online

Greece boasts one of the oldest wine cultures in the world, yet its wines remain one of the industry’s best-kept secrets.In this class, we’ll explore indigenous grapes like Assyrtiko, Moschofilero, Xinomavro, and Agiorgitiko, tasting our way from the volcanic vineyards of Santorini to the cooler highlands of the mainland and Peloponnese. Along the way, we’ll uncover how thousands of years of winemaking history meet a modern renaissance now capturing the attention of sommeliers and collectors alike.

We will taste the following wines:

Participants may choose to attend in person at the Capital Wine School or virtually on Zoom.

In Person Participants

• Please note that the building in which we are located does not have an elevator, and there are several sets of stairs to navigate to get to our classrooms on the second floor.

Virtual Participants 

• Registrations for virtual participation must be received by Sunday, October 25. Any registrations for virtual participation received after October 25 will automatically be cancelled and refunded minus a $35 administrative fee.
• Virtual participants may pick their samples up by appointment at the Capital Wine School between 12:00pm – 5:00pm on Thursday, October 29. 
• Additional information regarding curbside pickups will be emailed a day or two prior to class.
• Virtual participants who are unable to pick their samples up may request shipping for an additional fee. However, due to various factors we are unable to guarantee delivery by the event date. Participants who choose the shipping option are welcome to attend the Zoom session live without samples and will receive a recording of the tasting so that they may enjoy the wines alongside the recording at their convenience.

To ensure a quality experience for all participants, each class or course requires a minimum number of registrations. If this minimum is not met, we may need to cancel the session. In such cases, registered students will be notified as soon as possible and provided with options for rescheduling or a full refund.
