This 6-class course will be held at Capital Wine School on the following dates: April 30, May 7, May 14, May 21, June 4, and June 11 with exam on June 18.

The Italian Wine Scholar Program Unit One covers Italian wine law, grape varieties and their organoleptic profiles, viticulture, winemaking, wine industry trends and economics and all DOCs and DOCGs with their regulations, wine styles and specificities. This core body of knowledge is important whether you sell wine, buy wine or teach about wine.

In addition to the classroom instruction, which includes tasting of over 37 different wines, this course includes the following:

• – 1-year access to the Unit One Italian Wine Scholar online study program for class prep and review
• – Registration for the Unit One Italian Wine Scholar Exam, which is composed of 100 multiple-choice questions

The Unit One Italian Wine Scholar online study program includes 8 multimedia E-learning modules, review quizzes for self-evaluation, instructor Q&A forum for personal assistance and downloadable maps.

The Italian Wine Scholar (IWS) credential will be conferred to those individuals who achieve a composite score of 75 or higher. Students with a composite score of 85-90 pass with HONORS. Candidates scoring 91-100 pass with HIGHEST HONORS.
