Burgundy is wine’s most fragmented and revered region — a patchwork of small plots where Pinot Noir and Chardonnay reach their most transparent, terroir-driven expression. In this class, we’ll taste through ten wines that unpack Burgundy’s defining logic: the hierarchy of Regional, Village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru classifications, the contrast between the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune, and how single vineyards just meters apart can produce dramatically different wines. Along the way, we’ll demystify Burgundy’s famously confusing labeling system and explore why its wines command such devotion — and such prices. You’ll come away with a practical framework for navigating Burgundy with confidence.

The tasting lineup will be announced closer to the event, once final selections are confirmed.

This class will be held in person at the Capital Wine School. Please note that the building in which we are located does not have an elevator, and there are several sets of stairs to navigate to get to our classrooms on the second floor.

To ensure a quality experience for all participants, each class or course requires a minimum number of registrations. If this minimum is not met, we may need to cancel the session. In such cases, registered students will be notified as soon as possible and provided with options for rescheduling or a full refund.

By purchasing your ticket(s), you agree to our payment, refund, cancellation, and reschedule policy.
