The Unit 1 assessment is comprised of two papers: a coursework assignment and a case study examination.
The next coursework assignment is due on November 11, and the next case study exam will be held on March 11, 2015. REGISTRATION TO SUBMIT THE NOVEMBER 11 COURSEWORK ASSIGNMENT IS REQUIRED BY OCTOBER 11.
1) Students write the coursework assignment (50% of grade) at home over the course of several months. The topics through June 2015 have been released and are available. Please note that each date has a specific topic. Candidates must be registered with WSET Awards to submit a Coursework assignment. Any candidate submitting the wrong title will be graded as Fail.
- The assignment due on November 11, 2014 is entitled Opportunities in the Chinese Wines and Spirits Market. You may download the candidate brief here. You must register with Capital Wine School by October 11 if you intend to submit this paper. **PLEASE NOTE THAT, AS PER WSET, THIS ASSIGNMENT TOPIC COVERS MAINLAND CHINA ONLY. THIS TOPIC DOES NOT INCLUDE HONG KONG.**
- The assignment due on April 14, 2015 is entitled Aggressive Discounting in the Wine Market. You may download the candidate brief here. You must register with Capital Wine School by March 8, 2015 if you intend to submit this paper.
2) Students write the case study examination (50% of grade) in class under exam conditions. The topic, Wine in the on-trade, has been released. You may download the candidate brief here. The Case Study exam will be held at 10:30 am at the Capital Wine School on each of the following dates:
- **March 11, 2015 (REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY DECEMBER 7, 2014.)
- **June 9, 2015 (REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY MARCH 8.)
