You’re never too old to learn something new, so they say.

Let’s raise a toast to that sentiment!

Better yet, learning and experiencing new things keeps our brains sharper as we age (research studies have repeatedly confirmed this) and that makes for a better quality of life as the years go by.

Okay great. But what to learn?

Call us biased but we’d say, very enthusiastically, WINE…learn about wine!

Why?

Because it’s the best kind of learning.

Your brain gets a BIG boost, your senses are stimulated (and sharpened) while you have fun discovering new aspects of something that’s so much a part of our daily and social lives and the memories we make. You won’t be drifting off into daydreams waiting for the bell to ring with our classes.

And if that weren’t enough, you can add food to your “studies”. Food and wine have been inseparable for most of human history. Like any great couple, they really complement each other!

Simply put, to learn about wine is to learn more about yourself and what you like and to do so in a most enjoyable, hands-on way.

At Capitol Wine School, this is our mindset and it’s reflected in our motto, “seriously fun wine education.” We want you to receive the best education in wine while having a good time of it, minus the pretentiousness.

Our course offerings are varied, covering everything from an Introduction to Wine Basics, all the way to the WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) Level 4 Diploma, and so much more.

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) is an internationally recognized wine education program, offering certifications from beginner to expert. You can earn these certifications strictly for your own enjoyment or put them to use in exploring a new job or career. Whether it’s wine sales/marketing/event management or working in the importing/exporting of wine, there are countless opportunities to transform your wine education into paid work.

And if you want to stick to learning just for fun, we’ve got you covered.

There’s our upcoming Valentine’s Day class, Sommelier Secrets to Matching Wine & Chocolate. Hmm, what’s not to love?

Or maybe you’d like to learn about wines from other parts of the world? We have course offerings exploring the wines of Burgundy, Australia and Argentina, among others.

While Capitol Wine School is located at 5207 Wisconsin Ave in Washington DC, many of our classes are available online, so you can enjoy taking classes from the comfort of home. You can look over our schedule of classes here.

Gift certificates are also available for the wine enthusiasts in your life.

If you have any questions about the school or our course offerings, you can email us at info@capitalwineschool.com or call us at 202-792-5020.
