Unit D5: Fortified Wines (4 weeks of guided study)
This course covers tasting technique, Port, Sherry, Madeira, fortified Grenache and Muscat, and other fortified wines of the world.
Students will gain an understanding of how grape growing, winemaking, maturation, wine law and wine business influences the style, quality and price of the principal fortified wines of the world. The exam is 90 minutes and consists of an assessment of 3 wines tasted blind, and multiple-part open response theory questions.
Includes online tuition and study materials, feedback theory & tasting tests, tasting tutorial at the Capital Wine School on October 26, and the exam at the Capital Wine School on October 28.
Other Important Information
***This specific course is only available to transitional candidates who enrolled in the WSET Diploma program during the 2018/2019 academic year (August 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019).
***Students who take the October 28 exam and do not pass will not be eligible to re-sit the exam in January 2020 due to the timing of the results issuance; the first opportunity to re-sit will be June 2020.
***When registering for this course, existing Diploma students should use the email address on file with the WSET.
***The registration deadline for this course is August 22, 2019 and there are no refunds or rescheduling after this date.
***The WSET does not permit candidates to enroll in concurrent online courses (courses with overlapping start or end dates).
