2-day course plus exam, $1,250

This 2-day course will be held virtually via Cisco WebEx on August 1 & 2, 2020.

Class will run from 9am – 5pm on both days, and the exam will be held at the Capital Wine School on Saturday, August 8. Students will have the opportunity to choose between several exam times on August 8 between 10am – 4pm.

This unit focuses on viticulture, vinification, maturation, and bottling. You will learn what the vine requires to produce grapes for wine production, grape growing, winemaking, and post-fermentation options and how this influences style, quality, and price. This unit must be taken before attempting any other Diploma course. This course provides the foundation needed for taking D3, D4, and D5. This unit is assessed by a 90-minute multiple-part open-response exam.

You must have passed the WSET Level 3 exam before registering for the Diploma Program.

The course fee includes WSET’s 3 year registration fee; access to all Diploma study materials in the WSET Online Classroom; the two-day intensive course, and the Unit D1 Examination at Capital Wine School.

***Diploma New Candidate Registrations will be submitted to the WSET three weeks before the course begins, or within 72 hours of registration if the course start date is less than three weeks from the date of registration. Once we have submitted your New Candidate Registration to the WSET, cancellations/refunds are not possible.

***All Diploma study materials are located online, and no physical study booklets are issued. Candidates will receive emailed instructions on how to access the materials once their new Candidate Registration has been processed, but can preview them here. Please note that students who are enrolling in a classroom course and who have never taken a WSET online course before should NOT create an account in the online classroom, but should use the Global Campus login credentials that they will receive directly from the WSET via email once their candidate registration has been processed.

System Requirements for WebEx

  • Windows 8 32-bit/64-bit
  • Windows 8.1 32-bit/64-bit

Notes:

  • Windows OS support on Microsoft Surface Pro is supported.
  • Each Webex Meetings monthly release is tested and certified against the current preview of monthly rollup and all semi-annual Windows 10 releases.
  • Webex Meetings supports Windows Server 2012 R2 and 2016 with limitation that, for Webex meetings, Productivity Tools, and the desktop application, if a user doesn’t have administrator privileges, then an administrator is required to install the Webex Meetings applications and Productivity Tools.

Mac OS X

  • 13
  • 14
  • 15

Notes:

  • FedRAMP-compliant Webex Meetings sites require Mac OS 10.13 or later.
  • Starting with Mac OS X 10.7, Apple no longer offers Java as part of the Mac operating system. Since Webex Meetings previously relied on the Java browser plugin to download the meeting application for first-time users, users without Java installed found it difficult to join a meeting. The dependency on Java was removed. Instead, the user is asked to install a small plugin that, once installed, handles the rest of the meeting application installation and then starts the meeting.
Webex Support is an exception, and is still dependent on Java. Mac users can still download and install Java to use Webex Support.
  • When you start or join an event using Webex Events for the first time on Safari 6.X and Safari 7, a problem occurs. After you have installed Webex, Safari requires you to trust the plugin for the site you are attempting to join or start the event from. The page will refresh after that, but you will not join the event. In order to join, go back to the link you originally selected and you will be able to join successfully.
