Wines vary as much by style as they do by grape or region, and one of the styles that is most beloved but least written about is wines that are…just downright sexy.  You can understand why publications shy away from profiling such wines in explicit terms.  However, they definitely exist, as proved by the fact that Robert Parker revolutionized wine criticism and made himself a gazillionaire by focusing on “hedonistic” and “seductive” wines—a move that was at least as important for his success as popularizing the 100-point scoring scale.  In broad outline, the style is more rich than rugged, more soft than structured, more ripe than rough, more tender than tart, more sensual than cerebral.  You get the idea.  I believe my tastes are a bit broader than Parker’s, so you will likely encounter some surprises in the lineup, but this will surely be a great way to enjoy Valentine’s Day…starting and finishing with a terrific Champagne and blind-tasting 11 wicked wines in between.
