The Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW) certification course was developed by the Society of Wine Educators (SWE) in conjunction with prominent members of the wine industry.  The CSW has become one of the most important trade credentials in the wine industry today.  Companies such as Banfi, E & J Gallo, Kobrand, Trincero Winery, and many national distributors are major supporters.  The CSW program covers basic wine chemistry, viticulture, winemaking, wine service, and the major wine producing regions of the world.

To earn the CSW title you must pass a one-hour exam consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions.  Successful candidates, achieving a score of at least 75%, are entitled to add the post-nominal to their professional signature.  You must be an associate member or professional member of the Society of Wine Educators to take the exam.  Annual membership is $85 for an associate membership and $135 for a professional membership.  Visit the SWE website for more details.

The exam is offered at Pearson VUE sites.  Students enrolled at Capital Wine School will receive emails from Pearson regarding how to self-schedule their exam.  For more information on taking an exam with Pearson, including finding a location near you, please visit http://www.pearsonvue.com/societyofwineeducators/
